Parallel Salida Básica with a twist

The Salida Básica is usually the first choreography or sequence that we learn as beginners. There are two variants, in parallel system and in crossed system, today we will use the Parallel one and try to surprise the follower with a Barrida, a Leg Wrap and a Voleo.

We propose the sequence as a challenge to control the lead and execution of the cross in the basic 8 steps, the length of the previous step and the speed of the cross.

Because of the Barrida we can continue with any movement that focuses on the free leg, like a simple parada or sacada.

Jorge do the Parada, transferring his weight to the leg that made the Barrida and keeping Katrin with her free leg not collected.

Then he take an open step around Katrin, but taking a path that goes under Katrin’s free leg, creating the Leg Wrap first and a Front Voleo for Katrin after.

The sequence finish with both taking an Open step to close idea.

Katrin And Jorge’s Movements are :

Katrin’s Movements
  1. OPEN STEPcounterclockwise
  2. BACK CROSS – counterclockwise
  3. OPEN STEP – counterclockwise
  4. FRONT CROSS – counterclockwise
  5. OPEN STEP – counterclockwise
  6. FRONT VOLEO – clockwise
