Salida Básica in 8 beats, w/ out the back step 😯

Check our version of The Salida Básica avoiding the first step going backward and adding a Front Voleo.

The Salida Básica can be used to dance an entire phrase as they have 8 steps from start to finish. A typical musical phrase has 4 bars of 4 beats each and the beats used to dance “in time” are the first (Strong) and the third (Semi Strong).

We tend to avoid the first step of the Salida Básica on very busy dance floor because steps backwards in the direction of the floor can be dangerous.

This would leave the sequence with only 7 steps and we will start with the other leg.

To compensate for this missing step we add a forward Voleo to our sequence.

Another particularity of the Salida Básica is that it can be repeated in a chain, It begins and ends in the same position for both dancers.

We want the same thing to happens with our version, that’s why we are going to leave the last pulse “in the air”, so we are not going to step on it.
